Orchard House School

We named our school!  It is called Orchard House School.  We went on a trip to New England last fall and visited Louisa May Alcott's home in Concord, Massachusetts.  Her father had created a school of his own, where some famous writers came to teach and visit. It was built behind her house, and her house was called The Orchard House.  Mommy and Daddy really liked the visit and decided to name our school after it.

We decorated our school room (which is above Daddy's office) with owls!

I love it!

Grocery Store Math

Yesterday we went shopping. I wrote a list of things to buy, and then wrote down the prices! Then we added them all up (with mommy's calculator), and checked the receipt. It was right! I had lots of fun.

Hi, my name is Ellie...

I am a 6 year old girl. I started Home School last week! Today I learned new things by visiting a waterfall called "Looking Glass Falls". We swam in it! Then I went to the "Cradle of Forestry" Center. I learned that some animals live in the ground! Rabbits, moles, red foxes and groundhogs! Some live in dead trees! Raccoons, bees, owls, nuthatch, skunks!

This is the waterfall I swam in:
