Some exciting things have been going on this year! There is just so much to talk about, but here we go!
After organizing a corner of our kitchen into a homeschooling area...
...September came, and we happened upon a little Olympiad Event in Lake Lure, NC. We decided to enroll Ellie in a race event so she could have one of those "eye-catching" t-shirts. She got her face painted and everything!
We took a little field trip down south to Campbell's Covered Bridge in Gowensville, SC.
Ellie and her brothers really enjoyed splashing in the stream, since it was a warm day. Mom didn't find out until after doing some Googling later that night, that this bridge was supposed to be haunted! We didn't see any ghosts, but we DID find some very interesting pottery shards near the base of an old tree, where some construction for some picnic areas was going on.Then it was time for the Mountain State Fair! Ellie and her brother loved watching the horse show.
October brought a lot of great fun -- Farm Day in Jackson Park was where Ellie learned to milk a cow!
Then it was time to learn all about apples at Stepp's Hillcrest Orchard. Ellie and Ian really enjoyed the tractor ride through the apple trees, and learned a bit about farming.
They got to pick their own pumpkins and walk through a soybean maze.
Ellie's Daddy and Mommy got to go on a trip to the Western United States, where Yellowstone National Park is. They taught her all about geysers, volcanoes, and the animals that live there. Volcanoes fascinate Ellie even today!
And then came HALLOWEEN!
Ellie's mom made her a beautiful princess costume, and went to a homeschool Halloween Party in Asheville, NC. She adored that blonde wig!
And then, Eleanor turned SEVEN! Mommy made a Care Bears cake for her and she received a beautiful tiara from a friend.
Christmastime came, and Eleanor loved crafting this little gingerbread house out of foam.
The past few weeks have been a little off with sickness and school vacations, but cupcakes helped a lot...
This year, Eleanor has learned many things so far. She learned how to spell new words, how to alphabetize, count money, tell time, more complicated addition and subtraction problems, how other people live in different countries, how parts of our bodies work...it has been a whirlwind! We have discovered that Eleanor LOVES math and science, and she is not so keen on writing. Even so, her handwriting has improved dramatically, and we are so proud of her. We even started fractions!
Glad the homeschooling is going well!
